La ciudad de Mar del Plata y el Yacht Club Argentino tienen el honor de recibir al campeonato más importante de vela que se desarrolla en Argentina, en los últimos siete años. Nos referimos a nada más y nada menos que al Campeonato Mundial de la Clase ILCA 6, disciplina Olímpica Femenina.
Es un evento sumamente importante, no sólo por congregar a las mejores atletas de la especialidad, sino que además es una de las últimas oportunidades de obtener plaza para los Juegos Olímpicos de Paris de 2024.
Además de estar disputando la batalla por el Campeonato Mundial, muchas navegantes tendrán su selectivo interno y estarán compitiendo por la plaza de sus propios países.
Por ejemplo, en el caso de Argentina, donde las dos timoneles en disputa entre la delegación de seis, son Lucía Falasca y Luciana Cardozo, que están prácticamente empatadas y se jugarán a todo o nada en este evento decisivo.
Desde el mes de noviembre ya hay competidores extranjeros en la Ciudad de Mar del Plata entrenándose para este evento tan importante. Lo que han podido captar es, en primer lugar, todos coinciden en la excelencia de la cancha de regatas y un dato curioso es que nunca han tenido un día igual al otro. Mar del Plata se ha lucido con sus condiciones variables, para todos los gustos.
Hoy estaba programada la regata preparatoria, pero el típico noreste marplatense obligó a las participantes a permanecer en tierra y reservarse para mañana.
Las últimas cuatro campeonas mundiales y las dos últimas campeonas olímpicas están aquí, listas para participar de este evento. Sin lugar a duda ellas son las candidatas para ver en la clasificación general.
Competirá la actual campeona mundial es la húngara María Herdie. También se encuentra la mega estrella de la clase: la excampeona olímpica y tetracampeona mundial la holandesa Marit Bouwmeester. Si bien Holanda ya posee la plaza olímpica, Marit disputa con sus compatriotas la plaza interna. La tercera mega estrella del evento es la danesa Anna Marie Rindom, tres veces campeona mundial y la última campeona olímpica.
Este campeonato será muy interesante de ver, no solo por la complejidad de la cancha, sino por el elevadísimo nivel de las competidoras.

| Opening of the 2024 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship. The city of Mar del Plata and the Yacht Club Argentino have the honor of hosting the most important sailing championship in Argentina in the last seven years. We are referring to none other than the ILCA 6 World Championship, one of Women’s Olympic discipline.It is an extremely significant event, not only for bringing together the best athletes in the field but also as one of the last opportunities to secure a spot for the 2024 Paris Olympics.In addition to competing for the World Championship title, many sailors will have their national selections, vying for spots representing their own countries.For example, in the case of Argentina, among the six delegates, the two contenders for the spot are Lucía Falasca and Luciana Cardozo, who are currently tied and will give their all in this decisive event. Since November, foreign competitors have been in the city of Mar del Plata, training for this crucial event. What they have noticed is, first of all, unanimous agreement on the excellence of the racing course. A curious fact is that they’ve never experienced the same conditions two days in a row. Mar del Plata has showcased its variable conditions to suit all tastes. Today, the practice race was scheduled, but the typical northeast wind from Mar del Plata forced participants to stay on land and save their energy for tomorrow.
