The International J70 Class World Championship – 2025 Edition is coming!

In 2025 J70 World Championship News by YCA

From October 24th to November 1st, 2025, our Dársena Norte headquarters will be the venue for one of the most anticipated events on the international nautical calendar: the International J70 Class World Championship.

With 79 boats and 350 crew members from 16 countries (Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Chile, China, England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, Uruguay, and Argentina), this edition promises to be a true sailing celebration.

With a high international level and maximum competition, we look forward to the participation of sailors from all over the world. While it’s difficult to single out a single “best” in the J/70 class—as leadership varies depending on the event and its conditions—some of the most notable sailors in recent years include Peter Duncan of Relative Obscurity (USA), an outstanding helmsman who has earned numerous titles and accolades, including multiple world, North American, and South American championships. Also notable are Samuel Albrecht (BRA) of El Enemigo, the last champion of the 2025 Sudamericano held at our headquarters; Renato Cunha (BRA) of To Nessa, current leader of the 2025 Rolex South Atlantic Circuit; and Jeremy Wilmot (USA), one of the Level 5 crew members in this championship and a member of Yonder, winner of the 2024 World Championship in the Bay of Palma, Spain. Other notable names include Ralph De Vasconcellos Rosa of Mindset (BRA), winner of the European Championship; and Haroldo Solberg (BRA), from Viking, who finished second in the 2025 South American Championship. Likewise, the Ducasse Sailing Team (CHI), made up of Andrés, Ignacio, Rodrigo, and Francisco Ducasse, was crowned the first Corinthian team in the 2025 South American Championship. Among the most notable Argentine helmsmen and crew members are the Parada brothers Guillermo and Mariano, from Nildo; Pablo and Ezequiel Despontin, from 707; Fernando Gwozdz, from Petrogreen; and Francisco Van Avermaete, helmsman of ¡Si Querida! and current president of the Argentina Class. Representing the J/70 Uruguay class will be Pedro Garra, from Plan B, who is the current president of the International J/70 class.
