Hoy comenzaron los Campeonatos Juvenil y Masculino ILCA 6 2024, organizados por el Yacht Club Argentino y la International Laser Class Association en Mar del Plata. Este evento cuenta con la participación de 186 competidores de 29 países.
La jornada se presentó con cielo despejado y vientos muy fuertes del suroeste. La primera regata empezó con una intensidad entre 18 y 22 nudos, que aumentaron a unos 25 nudos y rachas de 30 para la segunda regata.
El argentino Francisco “Pancho” Renna se llevó las dos primeras regatas del campeonato en la categoría Open. Lo sigue el brasileño Antonio Cavalcanti Rosa y en tercer lugar está el argentino Pedro Pinto.
“La cancha estaba muy pareja y, aunque habitualmente con estas condiciones suele favorecer un poco más la derecha, estuvo muy pareja”, declaró Renna.
En la categoría juvenil masculina, lidera el italiano Antonio Pascali, quien obtuvo dos primeros puestos. Le sigue el brasileño Gustavo Canovas Kiessling y completando el podio se encuentra el estadounidense Jake Homberger.
En la categoría femenina, las italianas Ginevra Caracciolo y Maria Vittoria Arseni se encuentran en el primer y segundo puesto, respectivamente. Caracciolo fue medalla de oro en el Campeonato Mundial Juvenil ILCA 4 en 2022. En la tercera posición se ubica la ucraniana Alina Shapovalova.
Mañana continuará la serie clasificatoria. Al finalizar la jornada, habrá un tercer tiempo.

Organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association, the Youth and Men’s 2024 ILCA 6 Championship commenced today in the city of Mar del Plata. This event has the participation of 186 competitors from 29 countries.
The day started with clear skies and very strong southwest winds. The first race started with an intensity between 18 and 22 knots, which increased to around 25 knots with gusts of 30 for the second regatta.
Argentinian Francisco “Pancho” Renna secured the first two regattas of the championship in the Open category. He is followed by the Brazilian Antonio Cavalcanti Rosa, and in third place is the Argentinian Pedro Pinto. “The course was very even, and although under these conditions it usually tends to favor the right side a bit more, it was very evenly matched,” stated Renna.
In the youth male category, Italian Antonio Pascali leads with two first-place finishes. He is followed by the Brazilian Gustavo Canovas Kiessling, and completing the podium is the American Jake Homberger.
In the female category, Italians Ginevra Caracciolo and Maria Vittoria Arseni hold the first and second positions, respectively. Caracciolo won the gold medal in the ILCA 4 Youth World Championship in 2022. In the third position is the Ukrainian Alina Shapovalova.
Tomorrow, the qualifying series will continue. At the end of the day, there will be an after race.
