Hoy, sábado 13, dio inicio en la ciudad de Mar del Plata el Campeonato Mundial Juvenil y Masculino ILCA 6 2024.
La jornada comenzó con acreditaciones y mediciones, seguida de la regata preparatoria. Fue un día soleado y caluroso, con el típico viento del noreste marplatense. Este inició con una intensidad de 16 a 18 nudos, aumentando gradualmente hasta alcanzar los 23 nudos, lo que obligó a la mayoría de los participantes a permanecer en tierra y reservarse para mañana.
Posteriormente, se dio la bienvenida a todos los competidores con una ceremonia de apertura en la Sede de Playa Grande, marcando oficialmente el inicio del campeonato.
En esta competencia participan navegantes renombrados, como Jon Emmett, Campeón Mundial de ILCA Master, quien previamente entrenó a Tuula Tenkanen de Finlandia, 5º puesto en los Juegos Olímpicos de 2020, y a Lijia Xu de China, ganadora de la medalla de oro en los Juegos Olímpicos de 2012.
Este Mundial se caracteriza por albergar tres campeonatos en uno: el de Hombres con 52 competidores de 8 países (Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Francia, Gran Bretaña, Italia, Paraguay y Uruguay), el de juveniles mujeres con 31 participantes de 14 países (Argentina, Canadá, Chile, España, Estados Unidos, Grecia, Irlanda, Israel, Italia, Japón, República Checa, Turquía, Ucrania y Uruguay), y el de juveniles hombres, con 103 competidores de 26 países, incluyendo Antigua y Barbuda, Argentina, Bélgica, Brasil, Canadá, Chile, China, Croacia, Chipre, Eslovaquia, España, Estados Unidos, Finlandia, Grecia, Isla Caimán, Irlanda, Israel, Italia, Japón, Países Bajos, Perú, Reino Unido, República Checa, Suiza, Turquía y Uruguay.
Mañana comenzará el campeonato con dos regatas consecutivas de series clasificatorias.
El evento es coorganizado por el Yacht Club Argentino y la International Laser Class Association.

Today, Saturday the 13th, the Youth and Men’s ILCA 6 2024 World Championship began in the city of Mar del Plata.
The day started with accreditations and measurements, followed by the practice race. It was a sunny and hot day with the typical northeast wind from Mar del Plata. It began with an intensity of 16 to 18 knots, gradually increasing to 23 knots, forcing most participants to stay ashore and reserve themselves for tomorrow.
Later, a welcome ceremony for all competitors took place at the Playa Grande Headquarters, officially marking the start of the championship.
This competition brings together renowned sailors, such as Jon Emmett, ILCA Master World Champion 2023, who previously coached Tuula Tenkanen from Finland, 5th place in the 2020 Olympics, and Lijia Xu from China, who won the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics.
